When I was a little girl, I wanted so much to be a teacher and a writer. I remember playing school beneath the trees in my Mimi's backyard. I pretended to be the teachers I adored and admired for they allowed me to create a world of my imagining within my stories. I wanted to give that same gift of freedom to others. I knew from a very young age that I would teach.

I spent most of my childhood running barefoot through my grandparents' backyard
or climbing trees out at the farm. I was constantly outside playing and exploring my world. Every summer there were trips to the beach and picnics by the river. Each winter there were smores and stories around the campfire. I looked forward to those moments, and I never wanted them to end. I return to them again and again in my notebook.

After earning my teaching degree from Texas A&M University, I taught fourth grade writing for two years before switching to third grade for four. I absolutely treasure the years I spent in the classroom learning with my students. I am now starting my fourth year serving as a Literacy Specialist on my campus, and it has been an amazing experience as well. I am so blessed by the students and colleagues I work with.

I love my job, and I love my home. I live in Hearne, Texas with my husband Cade and our two boys: Cale and Zane. Our land is settled high on a ridge that runs down to a creek below our pasture. This land has a rich history with many stories of its own. We enjoy taking long walks, fishing on the lake, and telling ghost stories around a campfire in Shepard forest. I have never been more in love with my life than when I am sharing it with my family up here on the ridge. It is our own little piece of paradise where we can grow and explore our world together.

I can always find inspiration to write when I am home. My favorite place to write is outside at my old table on the back porch. I sit and let nature speak. Somehow I know, she'll always turn up between the lines of my notebook.

When I'm not writing or hanging out with my boys, I am usually working on a furniture project or decoupaging buckets. I love to paint and distress furniture in order to give it a new look with vintage flair. Painting inspires me to express my creativity and vision for a piece with a brush. I find so much joy in taking on these projects to see what they will become. So whether it is a pen in my hand or a paintbrush, I am one happy girl.

Thank you so much for visiting my site! May writing flourish in your life and bring you joy down every path you take.
