I absolutely love Purple Martins. These beautiful birds are found here in Texas throughout the early spring and summer months. They are the largest member of the Swallow family and are well known for their sweet sound. Martins do not make their own houses out of mud or grass the way other birds do, so they rely on humans to provide a home for them. Click here to find out more about Purple Martins. I love to watch the Martins fly and sing all around my house. I have been waiting a long time to have them take up residence in my Martin house. My grandpa always had Martins in his backyard houses. I hope that I will, too. It would make me so happy to give these birds a home to return to each year. They have given me so much inspiration. I have many entries and poems written in their honor. This poem is written much like the "Star light, star bright..." wish poem that you might know. It would be a wish come true to have the Purple Martins move into my house one of these nights!
